The museum will employ teams of student researchers from Black college journalism departments. There are 103 historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs)*, including 4- and 2-year public and private institutions, and most have or have had football programs. It is our goal to develop each participating school into a research franchise for gaining access to and knowledge of former players, coaches, artifacts, statistics and any other pertinent information.
The schools will be categorized into three regions, with several “regional assistants” responsible for culling information and locating artifacts and interviewees. Each region will also have a “regional manager,” responsible for the overall flow of information from his/her region as well as serving as the primary contact for information from that region and its assistants.
